My 2nd Birthday

Today was my birthday, and incidentally, this is my last Rose's Thoughts blog post.

Here's a pic of my loot. I made out REALLY well. My favorite gift was Woody, from Toy Story. Thanks Susan and Shelly! and he talks!!!

Willow and Mommy made the cupcakes for me.. yum...

birthday dinner was homemade chicken pot pie and salad. Susan and Shelly joined us for dinner and dessert.

our small theme was curious George. I love George. George decorations, cake topper, clothes, and toy (I already had the toy)

what a glorious day. i'm not a baby anymore, whether I like it or not! See you on Mommy's blog or facebook.

Goings On

I am totally into playgrounds now. I have NO FEAR. I love climbing up slides, climbing up high, whatever...fabulous!

----

Today, I got to use some birthday money at the Disney Store. I picked out a Roo stuffed animal and a cat stuffed animal (mommy thinks it's from the aristocats, but we're not sure...whatever, she's cute). I was so excited.

----

I sat on the potty today. Just for fun. Nothing happened. At all. We're not trying this yet - Mommy's not ready... that and the fact that I'm still content to hang out in my own filth leads her to think I may not be ready yet. Ha! I am however, obsessed with poop and pee, as it relates to my baby dolls and the cats.

------

I'm getting more words every day, and will even string 3 words together correctly. That's almost a sentence! Most of the time, I love playing with Willow, and I like to copy everything she does...which can get us both in trouble.

-----

About one more week till my birthday! Yea!

Seating

I have officially rejected my booster seat, and insist on sitting in a grown-up chair.

I'm growing so fast!

Big Girl!

Sunday was my first day in the toddler (2-4) class at church. I loved it! I didn't care at all that Mommy left me in there. Granted, Willow was there too. The teacher said I did well, and didn't freak out when it came to sharing, etc.

When it was time to go, Mommy asked me what I did in class. My first response was "snack!" and then clapping my hands.

Willow informed Mommy that they learned to go spread the good news. Mommy said, "what's the good news?". Willow said "to be good."

Hmm.

or maybe Jesus...we'll keep working on that.

I was so excited to be in the big kid class.

----

If you ask me how old I am, I say "two!" and hold up two fingers. Yes, it's a month away, but we're practicing.

I also love singing along with Willow in my own Rose way.

Jokes

I like to tell jokes.

My first joke was a few months ago. I knocked on the door, and when mommy said "who's there", i said "willow" and laughed.

My second joke is a continuing one...

when I toot, mommy says "rose, did you toot?", and i'll say "mommy". then she'll say, "no, that was rosie"...to which i reply "daddy".

you get the idea. i just think this is hilarious.

in keeping with the toot jokes, i've learned to say "toot" and "burp"

and yes, i know how to say "excuse me", but not in this kind of context...we'll work on that.

ha!

School!

I got to go to school today! Mommy had to co-op, and no one was available to babysit.

I loved it so much! It's too bad I won't get to go there next year.

Pictures

Here's some pics of me from the last couple of weeks.

I'm really growing a lot - I love trying out new words and sounds...I insist on feeding myself (regardless of the result)...I love to throw tantrums... and I love to play the violin (and if I don't get to after Willow practices, then I have one of those tantrums I love).

Willow does a great job of being a big sister - she's always trying to teach me new words and songs...

Sweet Times

Mommy and I started a new silly thing. She holds me like a baby, and sings "rock-a-bye baby" to me. I sing along with her "barbie bye bye", and then on the last word of the song, she tickles me.

I love to ask for this, and it's a sweet cuddly time for us.

I'm really repeating a lot of things now, sounds and words, and love to try to say big things, like the whole "this little piggy".

Helpfulness

How do I help Mommy - let me count the ways...

1. if she seems to not be able to hear me, I help her by screaming at the top of my lungs... you know, just in case she missed something.

2. i set the table sometimes.

3. if i'm really tired, i let her know, often, by screaming and kicking... especially if we're in public. this way, she knows what i'm wanting from her.

4. i let mommy know if i don't like the food she gives me by throwing it on the floor. i feel this is a clear way to communicate that i dislike something.

5. when i'm done with a snack bowl, etc... i'll go and put it in the sink. sometimes, i have to be cheered the whole way there, but really, i'm making sure that mommy knows what's going on.

6. i give mommy an upper body workout by constantly squirming if she's holding me. occasionally, i treat her to monkey legs, and give her a break, but mostly, i make her do all the work. but really, she needs it...

7. i give good hugs and snuggles to make up for my naughtiness.

What's Going On

Mom's being a total slacker with the pictures. We'll get some up soon. She's also decided that when I turn 2, this blog will go the way of all things. Just have to make it till then.

So...new stuff from me.

I'm saying a lot more now - pretty much Mom's the only one that can understand me, and my language involves a lot of pointing. I love to ask her "what's that" when we're out and about. This must be paying off, because despite the fact that she's not "teaching" me anything, i picked up a circle shaped block today and said "circle". wow.

I'm still a cuddly little girl, but I'm growing up too. I can be pretty rough and tumble with sister, but I also love to take care of my baby dolls.

I got to go to a playground recently, and totally conquered the big kids big metal slide. No fear here.

I get frustrated a lot when people don't understand what I'm saying, but we're working on it, it's a process. a long suffering process.

I want to do everything willow does, which unfortunately gets her in trouble a lot, but she's really sweet to me, and teaches me lots of things. She'll also smell my rear to see if I've pooped. Ha!

I can almost ride her tricycle - I'm pretty much tall enough, but the coordination of my feet on the pedals is not quite there. I love doing it though, and don't want any help.

When I'm naughty, mommy makes me say "sorry". the other day, i had a fit for AN HOUR before i would say I was sorry. But as soon as I did, I was a good kid again (i can be such a stinker with the fits) - willow said she forgave me, and we shared a sweet hug (that's our post-being-naughty routine). since then, as soon as i get sent to time-out, i'll walk over to willow and say sorry right away. ha!

we're getting ready to go to san antonio for easter - daddy can't join us b/c it's not his spring break. i haven't decided yet how i'm going to behave on the plane. good news is i'll have my own seat with my car seat in it - strapped in and stuck! willow's already planning the toys she's going to pack for us.

well, i suppose that's it for now - we'll try to do something about that picture situation.

Tricycle Adventure

I got to ride a tricycle for the first time last night. I'm just barely tall enough, but I loved it. I also loved getting to wear the princess helmet. I was super cute.

However, I'm the 2nd kid, which APPARENTLY means Mommy doesn't take pictures... oh well. Maybe next time. I'm sure this will help me build character when I'm older and look back on this.

I had a lot of fun riding - at one point, I pushed Mommy's hands off the handlebars and said "mine!" She secretly kept her hand on the seat to help me go, but I felt like I was doing it myself, and that's what counts.

Fun!

Please Touch

Today while Willow was in school, Mommy and I went to the Please Touch Museum. Mommy said she's going to try to make a concerted effort for us to get out and do things like that while Willow is in school - mainly to get our money's worth out of our various passes before we move.

She also forgot the camera. (the curse of being the 2nd kid)

I had so much fun! I got to ride the carousel 2x, and do whatever I want. I particularly enjoyed the water play area. I also really enjoyed the grocery store area. This was really my first time to just do whatever. Mommy was much less stressed chasing only me around... because I do like to run. And run I did... for about 2 hours. Awesome.

We had lunch there - I was a big girl eating my pasta with a fork. Mommy was the one spilling Dr. Pepper all over her pants. Haha.

All the way from the museum to Willow's school, I insisted on Mommy singing. Lots and lots of singing. Sometimes I chimed in. Sometimes I let her know I didn't like her song by screaming "no" at her. Still working on those communication skills.

Mommy feels like I got a lot of learnin' in today. Go me.

New Skills

I like to help Mommy set the table. Normally, this is Willow's job, and i just scatter dinner ware around the house.

BUT...

tonight, Willow was upstairs and I got to help Mommy all by myself. I took the stack of (plastic) plates out to the table, and put them in the right spots for everyone! Mommy was super impressed.

I'm also doing a good job of staying with Mommy even if I'm not holding her hand. I particularly like to not hold her hand, but the trade-off is that I have to stay right beside her the whole time. It's a process.

Life Around Here

I've recently discovered spitting. I really enjoy it. Mommy taught me to spit when she is brushing my teeth. I think it is appropriate to spit at other times... like when I'm in the living room, and I'm bored... or when I'm having some water...in the dining room, and I'm bored. You get the idea.

I'm doing much better with the stairs. Mommy's not letting me do them alone yet, but I totally could.

I'm really good at throwing and kicking balls. It's too bad we're moving - Kris was going to be my soccer mentor. But I'm sure being around all my cousins on a more regular basis will give me plenty of outlet for expending my energy.

Yes... we're moving to Texas! Woohoo for family! We'll see how Willow and I fare in the heat. We're both pretty hot-natured like Mommy.

I'm getting somewhat better at communicating. It's an on-going process...one that greatly frustrates me and leads to lots of screaming and fits.

When I'm naughty, I'll send myself to the corner now for time-out. (ok...sometimes Mommy has to send me to the corner..) When I calm down, I tell Mommy (or Willow or whoever) "Sorry
!", they say "I forgive you", and then we share a sweet hug. This seems to be working for right now.

Girl Time

willow and i have fun playing tea party together... most of the time...

and a little two-shot. obviously, we filled back out after our bout with the stomach virus. here, i'm trying to show my belly button to the camera - not fast enough this time!
